John Hubert Halstead

	John Hubert Halstead, 94, of Elkville and DuQuoin, more recently of the Abbey of Carbondale for the past few years,  passed away at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
	John was a retired coal miner, having worked at the Freeman United Fidelity Mine.  He was a Protestant and a member of the UMWA.
	He was born September 27, 1906 at Hallidayboro, the son of Albert and Alice (Manus) Halstead.  he married Lillian Graeff in 1930 at Hallidayboro and she passed away in December 1969.
	 He is survived by a daughter, Ramona Tyner and husband Kenneth of Elkville; a son, Raymond Halstead and wife Ina of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Vickie (Tyner) Bush, Kenneth Ray Tyner, Toni Stanhouse, Gregory Tyner, David Tyner, Gena (Halstead) Ellis; great-grandchildren-Kaila Tyner, Mona Bush, Jay Ci Tyner, Madison Tyner, Keaton Tyner, John David Stanhouse, Kyle Tyner, Kaleb Tyner, Hunter Grayson Ellis; great-great-grandchildren, Elijah and Isah Fennell and numerous other relatives in DuQuoin.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Anthony Ray Halstead and sister, Bertha McClellan.
	Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, February 16 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Bro. Jerry Aken officiating.
	Friends called from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.
	 Interment was in the Hallidayboro Cemetery.
